This is the first of my ‘Bridge Inn’ series of paintings. During a visit to the public house in the village of Pontblyddyn, Flintshire, I noticed a barn in a semi-derelict condition. On walking inside, I found that the building was divided into two separate rooms below, with two further rooms above. All rooms where filled with interesting objects, and decayed architectural features – with the potential for a number of still-lifes and studies.
