This is one of the small studies for my ‘Hawarden Mill’ series. The scene is set inside the ruinous North-East section of the mill. I was drawn to the textures of the wooden lintel; the abstract elements within it; and the way that the wood is returning to nature – with more of a semblance to the tree from which it originally came, than to the architectural feature which it became within the building.
