Hawarden Mill – North East Wall

I recorded this part of the building during my main visit to the site. The remaining section of the wall represents the only support to the substantial end-gable of the mill. On a later visit to the mill, I found that the upper portion of wall to the right had collapsed under the weight of a fallen tree. The blank rectangle of stone in that portion of wall is not a blocked-in window – but a date-stone, inscribed with the name of the builder, and the date, 1777. Sadly, that stone – an important piece of local history – had fallen to the ground and was broken in two.
